Word of the Day #2: Mohel

mohel (moy-uhl)

The man who performs the circumcision at a briss, (the Jewish rite of circumcising a male child on the eighth day after his birth)

Usage:

“Zelig’s a bit of a stick in the mud, eh?”

“Why do you say that?”

“I saw him in the street right now, and I held out my hand and said ‘hey, man! Gimme some skin!’ He looked disgusted with me.”

“Zelig’s a mohel, Sadie. He just cuts the skin off. You want to put it back on, call a plastic surgeon, you shlemiel.”

Of course there's nothing funny about amputating over half the sensual nerve endings from a non-consenting minor.

Unfortunately the best that can be done to make it right is non-surgical foreskin restoration, whereby a man tensions his penile shaft skin for several years to cause enough new skin to grow so that he can have his glans covered and enjoy the normal feeling of skin mobility during intimacy.

Why would you want a non-consenting minor to keep over half the sensual nerve endings?...

Mr. Tugger, you and I are clearly on the same side of the fence in the circumcision debate, but might I ask you where you’re getting your information? Because the last time I checked, the vast majority of the sensual nerves are in the glans, not the foreskin.

I agree that circumcision is a horrible practice that should be made illegal, but making up facts, at least when it’s this obvious, (those of us who have penises can double-check this pretty easily, and those of us who don’t can always borrow one from a responsible adult,) really doesn’t help your cause.

it's clinical at this point. said...

If I may just roll back the seriousness of the current mood and inject my essence into the debate:
I've been tensioning my penile shaft skin ever since I was a little boy, sometimes 2-3 times a day but still no restorated foreskin.
